Island life daydreaming
Each day is a new beginning and a new discovery...There are many beautiful islands in Croatia, and there are 2 small islands in front of Zadar that you would not expect much from. But, they have so much to show and tell.. One is Ošljak, also called Lazaret. Lazarets (after St Lazare, the protector of the sick) were the oldest hospitals for the isolation of leprosy and plague patients. Lazareti were established in ports to carry out quarantine measures. Today it is inhabited by one family only, and it is still a heaven and a refuge from the stress of everyday modern life...Second one is Galevac (also called Školjić by locals), just 85 m from Preko village; when tide is low you can actually walk to it. In the middle of the Island there is a monastery and little church of St. Paul from 15 century. Iti s the smallest inhabited island of the Adriatic coast and beautiful example of traditional arhitecture. Did we mention crystal clear waters around both that you can swim in ? ...we didn't? ...well, come and see for yourself..
